About the program

The biomedical research grant track will support innovative and groundbreaking biomedical research in Israel, which is expected to lead to a profound understanding of human biology and of human health- and disease-related mechanisms. This track is focused on supporting basic or translational research, directly linked to the fields of human biology and health, which results may have medical implications.

The MAVRI biomedical research grant track goals are to drive a profound change in the scope and culture of biomedical research in Israel, strengthen and expand high-quality and sustainable research activity in the field, foster collaboration among researchers from Israel’s higher education institutions and physicians in hospitals from diverse fields of knowledge and specialization, while promoting and institutionalizing access to the results of the studies supported by the program and transferring the knowledge and insights gained through the supported studies towards improving medical treatment.

Funding sources

The MAVRI program is based on pooling the resources of the Planning and Budgeting Committee (PBC) of the Council for Higher Education (CHE), and of the philanthropic organizations: The Klarman Family Foundation (KFF) and Yad Hanadiv (YH).

The biomedical research grant track of MAVRI program is a natural continuation and expansion of the Israel Precision Medicine Partnership (IPMP), operated by the ISF in recent years, which paved the way to deepen biomedical research ties in Israel between researchers in research institutions and health organizations.
