About the program

The aim of MAVRI start-up track is to assist in the establishment of research laboratories in hospitals and support the research that will be conducted in them after their establishment, under the leadership of a physician-scientist, who has the ability and interest to develop an integrated career as an independent physician-scientist. This track enables support through a research grant, as well as an equipment grant, to assist with purchasing of dedicated scientific equipment that will be located in the aforementioned research laboratory and will serve the new physician-scientist.

The start-up grant track aims to strengthen and expand high-quality and sustainable research activity in Israel’s hospitals, under the leadership of physician-scientists, while establishing and reinforcing the physician-scientist position in Israel’s hospitals as an accepted and appreciated employment and promotion track, with the goal of increasing the number of physician-scientists in Israel and supporting their ability to build a career that merges clinical work with profound biomedical research.
